Pair of Vases from C H Brannam and Sons

This
elegant pair of vases were produced circa 1920 at a pottery works in Barnstable, North Devon
by the name of C H Brannam and Sons.
Brannam Pottery was a British studio pottery firm started by Thomas Backway Brannam in 1848.
In 1886 Charles Hubert Brannam registered the name Royal Barum Ware and
ensured it was sold by several firms in London including Liberty.
The company's patrons included Queen Victoria.
By 1920 Brannam's had become a limited company run by Charles' sons Charles William and John Woolacott (Jack).
The company has used many marks over the years including C H Brannam, Barum and Barnstaple.
It finally closed down as a business in 2005.
Around the time these were made the Brannam brothers had progressed to business to include
sgraffito work to the sides of the pots - so these are a little unusual ... or I have the date wrong, and they are older!
The simple glazes are very pleasing to the eye.
Condition: These are being sold either individually or as a pair because of the damage to one of them at the base,
although the chips are not seen when they are in use.
Otherwise, for a pair of earthenware vases about 100 years old, they are in very good condition,
with afew slight scratches to the surfaces.
