Sculptural Form 'Bishop' by Jon Bull

This stoneware sculptural form was made by Jon Bull at
his studio in Cardiff as part of a series of innovative works
inspired by chess pieces - this one is called "Smoke-fired Bishop".

This piece has a full round body that stands on a narrow foot
and is topped with an elegant, fluted and detailed neck.
Its colour varies betweenwarm smokie browns and creams with
patches and flashes of yellows, oranges and greys. The surface is also
is also scattered with various markings, speckles and details which create
depth and make this piece totally unique.

Jon Bull began potting in 1995.
Then in 2004 his started up his own studio, Jon Bull Ceramics,
and now has his amazing work
being shown in a growing number of galleries throughout the UK.
