Slipware dish by Jean Hampton

This thrown earthenware dish was made by Jean Hampton at
Hampton Pottery in Penn, Wolverhampton around the mid to late 70's.

What began as a financial aid to help her daughter through college, ended up
a full time profession which revealed her amazing individual style with slipware.

Jean Hampton did not throw any of her pieces, that was left to her friend Tom Beeson,
who still works at Wolverhampton University.
Tragically Jean Hampton died of Leukemia sometime in the 1980's.

Her original paper mark clearly reads:

HAMPTON POTTERY
HANDMADE
EARTHENWARE
POTTERY
SEDGLEY 2018

It was also common for the date of manufacture to be inscribed - but not on this piece.
An interesting note is that she sometimes used an incised mark which was a sort of stylised "hp".

Condition: This is in very good condition - with no scratches, or cracks, other than the tiniest fleabite on the rim,
and there are six very small bubbles which were made during firing.
Dimensions: 2 inch high/5cm high
Diameter: 6 inches/15cm

I am about to write a book on how she came to
produce these incredible
pieces - if you need any information
