This stoneware lamp base was made by Dennis Townsend
at Iden Pottery, Rye, Sussex in 1977.
Dennis Townsend started Iden Pottery in 1959, and ran it until 2002.
This particular oxide stamp on the base gives the exact date
- 1977.
This stamp started being used in 1974,
and each year a notch was taken out
... so, three yearly notches added to 1974 gives the exact year of manufacture.
This is in excellent condition - no scratches, chips, or cracks.
6.75 inches high/165mm high.
