French Slipware Country Jug

This earthenwareslip decorated jug was made somewhere in France,
probably within the last 50 years.

The underlying glaze is very interesting.
Either it has been accidently fired too high so as to 'boil' the glaze,
resulting in an almost volcanic glaze.
Or it has been purposefully fired high to obtain a highly textured surface.
Either way I think it is a very attractive piece.

The slip trail is also worthy of note - its uneveness only adds to its charm.

Like most French country pottery this beautiful specimen is unmarked.

This is in excellent condition - no scratches, chips, or cracks.

6.75 inches high/17cm high.
