Studio Bottle Vase from Leach Pottery

This stoneware bottle vase was made at the Leach Pottery St.Ives, Cornwall.

The "ENGLAND" mark, which was not used very much, dates it to just after the second world war
from about 1945-50.

My investigations into its provenance have revealed little other than:

1. It has been produced by a skilful hand.
2. Leach's pupils shortly after the war (which is when I believe that this was made) included
Cecil Baugh, Valentinos Charalambous, David Leach, Michael Leach, Warren Mackenzie,
Scott Marshall, William Marshall, and Kenneth Quick.
3. The glaze is ash mixed with a little cobalt and iron oxide over tenmoku.

This page will be updated as soon as more information comes in.

Condition: This is in very good condition - no scratches, or cracks.
However, there is a small chip just under the lip at the neck, and three other tiny fleabites there also -
none of these are very visible (see photo's)
.
