Art Nouvaeu Pottery By Gilbert Metenier

This art nouveau pot was made by Gilbert Metenier in Gannat, France
sometime between 1910-30, but because the incised signature is by hand
(rather than a stamped signature) this pot is probably an early one.
His unmistakable signature has been almost completely erazed by the procedure
normally used by the pottery to file off the lumpy glazes which had formed on the bottom.
All his pots were treated this way, and so adds to the provenance
of where this pot has come from.
Condition: This is in excellent condition - no scratches, chips, or cracks
(which I find extraordinary for a pot that is about 100 years old!).
Dimensions: just under 4 inches high/10cm high
Widest diameter (not including the handles) 3.5inches/9cm.
