Studio Pottery Bottle Vase by Bryan Newman
Aller Pottery

This tall stoneware bottle vase was made by Bryan Newman at Aller Pottery, Somerset
sometime after 1966. Two slips have been used - a dark one and a lighter one.
Amazingly, the two slips have produced black, dark brown, dark blue, ginger, and yellow ochre - all matt.
The top has been given a tenmoku glaze, which covers all the interior.

Bryan and his wife, Julia, started up Eos Pottery in Dulwich, London in 1961-66, then
they moved to Somerset and began Aller where they concentrated on dometic stoneware.
They are still there today
.

The Aller Pottery mark "A" can clearly be seen underneath. Above the mark is a small bubble that appeared before firing
but has broken off since.
