Poole Pottery Delphis Vase painted by Cynthia Bennett

This is a Delphis style Vase made at Poole Pottery in the early 1970's.
Marked CB for painter Cynthia Bennett, it also has the pattern code JH and the shape number 15.

In 1963 Guy Sydenham and Tony Morris upgraded the Poole Pottery range by creating the Delphis range - among other designs.
Yet, it was not until they visited the french town of Vallauris in 1968 that they found new safe, yet very colourful, formulas that
proved to be a great inspiration for the painters. Each painter was given greater freedom to produce their own designs.
However, in order to progress the business, 'piece work' was introduced so the painters were encouraged to work faster.
This bore some interesting and varied results.

Another interesting point is the pattern code, in this case JH.
This code was basically two or three desciptive words of the patterns ... S stood for special, M for medium, etc.
But what could JH have stood for? If anybody knows the answer then please do not hesitate to contact me.
