Celadon glazed Bowl by Simon Leach
Silverton Pottery

This finely crafted stoneware bowl with a celadon glaze was
made by Simon Leach
at Silverton Pottery near Exeter, Devon sometime between 1984 and 1990.
Simon Leach, grandson of Bernard Leach and son of David Leach,
remembered
his grandfathers words "Look for beauty but also usefulness in a pot".
He spent his childhood days surrounded by the work of his father
and of the various apprenticeships at the Lowerdon Pottery
- all of these became a source of inspiration and influence for him.
Between 1979 and 1984 he became an apprentice himself to his father at Lowerdown,
then 1984 to 1990 he ran his own studio at Silverton Pottery, Devon.
From 1990 he moved out to Spain and finally established
Simon Leach Ceramics in the Castellon provence ... where he is still working
today.
The Silverton stamp can be clearly seen
on the base.
