Large Studio
pottery glazed dish by Andrew Watts






This
large stoneware blue glazed dish was made by Andrew Watts
between 1987 and about 1995
in Lannock Pottery, Hitchin, Hertfordshire.
He decided to stop potting in the mid 1990's
and is now the Ceramics Development Officer at Stoke-on-Trent Potteries Museum.
Looking at this expertly made piece this is a great loss to studio pottery.
This has all the makings of a truly top professional craftsman:
The eveness of the wheel work; the strong but beautiful handles;
the neatly finished base; just about everything on this piece of ceramic
has been well thought out and finely finished.
Condition: This is in excellent condition -
no scratches, chips, or cracks.
Dimensions: just over 4.25 inches high/105mm high
Widest Diameter (excluding handles) just over 9 inches/23cm.
It
bears the stamped roundel "Lannock Pottery, Weston, Herts - stoneware".
Plus there is a paper label
"HANDTHROWN STONEWARE FROM THE LANNOCK POTTERY WESTON, (HERTS)"
