Studio Pottery Tenmoku Bowl by Dave Wilson
Winchcombe Pottery

This footed stoneware tenmoku bowl was made by Dave Wilson
at Winchcombe Pottery in May 2007.

The glaze is supurb on this piece,
and he has employed a piched technique on three spots around the sides.

Dave Wilson started working with pots at Kolonyama Pottery in South Africa
in the 1980's until the political unrest drove him to many jobs
finally bringing him to Winchcombe Pottery in 1999.

Initially he worked part time until Ed Turfrey left for the USA. Then as a full time potter
he started working his way up from the small pots until he began taking on forms historically
made by Ray Finch only ... notibly teapots, which were also a Cardew form.

With the retirement of Eddie Hopkins, and Ray Finch handing over more
of the physical work such as firing, Dave Wilson's role at Winchcombe has
become pivotal to the day-to-day running the pottery.

His personal "DW" mark and the Winchcombe mark can clearly be seen on the side of the foot.
